Sketchnotes From UX Australia 2013

Dan Willis: Designing Successful Experiences For Bald Apes
Summary:

Matt and Luke attended UX Australia 2013 in Melbourne, Australia last week

Here are Matt’s sketchnotes from the conference.

Luke and I didn’t have to venture far to make our pilgrimage to last week’s UX Australia event—the annual conference was held in our home city of Melbourne.

Of course, we weren’t simply attending this year, we were presenting. Our presentation, Design With Soul: Battling The Ecommerce Blues, was more of a production, complete with singing, dancing, improvisation, and a bearded man dressed as Aretha Franklin. Oh, and a bit of actual substance as we talked about our redesign of the Mathematical Association of Victoria’s online shop, and how we used the project as a testbed to determine, once and for all, which was the best UX technique.

If you’re after an extensive post-mortem of the conference (including our own views on the conference highlights and an interview with a special guest) then be sure to tune into our webinar in a couple of days’ time. In the mean time, here’s the set of eleven sketchnotes from the sessions I attended.

While no other presentations were filmed at the conference, we did arrange for a video camera operator to record our session. We’re planning to make it available online for those who weren’t present, so that everyone else has the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the UX Brothers.

As always, it was a terrific conference, and a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers and friends, old and new. UX Australia 2014 will be held in Sydney; if you’re able to attend, I thoroughly recommend it. A huge thank you to Steve and Donna for all their hard work, and for trusting that our hair-brained idea was worth presenting.

P.S. Check out some of Ben Crothersamazing sketchnotes from the same conference.
